I drank the kool-aid

Let me start by saying over the past three years I’ve grown and changed in so many different ways. From my thought processes to self talk I’ve transformed into a version of me that I finally accept fully. I have some goals I’m working towards in many areas of life but I like who I am in this moment.

I’ve always had a list of things that aren’t for me or that I won’t do. I’m not one to follow trends or jump on the bandwagon with anything BUT eyebrow tinting was one that eventually pulled me in.

In September 2021 I finally got professional highlights and over the course of several months got reddish burgundy rinses and finally permanent color. I simply love my hair. As I blogged about previously, I changed careers and began working for a company I just love in November. The closer it got to time for our holiday party, the more I noticed my eyebrows.

Over the years I’ve done everything from plucking to waxing to threading. I even used to use an eyebrow razor and keep them super thin. The older I got, the more I wanted a fuller look. I began noticing everyone’s eyebrows especially on social media. Then people I know started using and/or selling eyebrow tint.

Chile I really thought those big dark eyebrows looked so clownish ๐Ÿคก. Like why are y’all doing them like that? Do y’all seriously LIKE how that looks? Eeeewww y’all weird af! And why your lashes so big?! But I digress

Back to this holiday party. I needed to look cute so went to my hair stylist to get color the Saturday before and she did a cute pinned up mohawk that I knew I was going to continue to replicate. And she said, “now you got to get your eyebrows done”. I surely felt some type of way because I immediately knew she was talking about tint. She had me make an appt with Kizzy up front who does tint. Kizzy asked if I wanted burgundy since my hair was burgundy.

No ma’am. No, I do not want burgundy eyebrows thank you. But y’all, I got antsy. My appointment wasn’t until the afternoon of the holiday party which was 6 days away. What if I didn’t like them?

So the next day when I went to get my eyebrows threaded, I let them tint them as well. They told me it just looked dark during the process and after but would lighten up after a few days. I could wash my face but bo scrubbing of my eyebrows or the tint would fade quicker.

Y’all I HATED my eyebrows. Really truly hated them. Everyone around me was like they look nice blah blah blah but I looked like a whole clown! Let me tell you I started scrubbing my brows every time I washed my face THAT DAY lol but baby even 5 days later when I went to Kizzy to have them corrected she could still see the tint.

But when I tell you Kizzy made my brows look AMAZING ๐Ÿ˜

My brows looked so natural and beautiful and I just loved them! I had already been seeing Instagram posts about microblading but now I needed to investigate because what if I could wake up like this every day and not have to get them tinted every 7-10 days ๐Ÿค”

So I drank the kool-aid and I’ll tell y’all about my microblading journey in my next blog.
