Whewwww chile Cappadonna! All five books got me even more hooked on the Delgato family than I was before sheesh!
So we have to go back to Capone’s visits to Cappadonna to connect the dots. Alaia would come to visit her dude in prison at the same time Capone would visit Capp. Capp was always checking her out and found out her name when Capone brought Erin to meet Capp. She and Erin developed a rapport and Erin introduced her. Capp would also ear hustle on Alaia and her dude’s convos and hated how he treated her and talked down to her. He asked one of the COs to look up the definition of her name and found out it meant Joy. Well, one day she went to visit dude in prison and Naheim was visiting Capp, telling him how he overheard her outside saying she left her phone with her bus pass on it on the bus so she was stranded. Capp had a car sent to take her home because that’s who he is.
Fast forward to Capp being released from prison and getting reacclimated. Alaia’s backstory is introduced and begins with her at her lowest point. After the death of her grandmother Yaya, her brother betrays her, selling her off into marriage at age 16 with a man twice her age. She essentially ends up barefoot and pregnant in an abusive, loveless relationship. The husband dies leaving her as the “property” of his brother Taz.
Welp here comes Capp. He spots her struggling to get her laundry where it needed to go and instantly remembered her from the prison. From that moment on he was locked in and doing everything to let her know he was there for her, would take care of her, and would never allow harm to come to her again. She was fearful of Taz hurting her because of how angry he got anytime he saw her get out of Capp’s vehicle, even though he was only helping her. Taz makes the mistake of leaving her with no electricity or food knowing she was super pregnant and also putting his hands on her. It was over from that point on. Capp took her away from that environment and let her know she was his and he would protect her with his life. He was also comin for everybody that ever hurt her.
There are so many layers to these Cappadonna books that it’s insane. We found out in Capone that Chubs/Capella, one of their runners, was in fact Capp’s son with Kendra. When Capp finds out he’s so broken because he never knew he had a son. He lost 19 years and was not only hell bent on making up for lost time but also making Kendra pay. Then finding out Chubs has a child with the sister of the dude Kendra is messing with, who is also the same dude who tried to kill Chubs? Chile the DRAMA.
Kendra was a whole damn fool first off. She had EVERYTHING but couldn’t just fall back and play her role. Even on the inside, Capp made sure she wanted for nothing but she was STILL out there wildin and sleeping with other dudes. Everyone warned Capp but he needed to find out for himself. And baby when he did! Whew chile this idiot ran to be the one who gave her exactly what she deserved thinking it would make Capp jealous.
The way he ignored her and her entire existence and took on Alaia’s baby girl as his own and gave them THE WORLD? Tuh!
Through every book I’m still amazed at how dudes kept crawling out the woodwork like roaches to try the Delgatos. Like what are y’all smokin that makes y’all think that’s something safe to do? Baby they clearly enjoyed playing Russian roulette. Even if they did get a lick off, Capp came back and took any and everything that mattered to them, even their lives.
The man is literally insane and a beast. Please be warned that this book gets VERY graphic and I’m concerned with how much I enjoy when Capp destroys someone. Starting to scare myself.
What I love about Cappadonna is watching him and his Joy find their joy. He is literally a puppy dog around her and it’s so frickin sweet. He is worse than Capone was with Erin lol. He’s very Muslim, unlike the trash ass man who abused her, so he treats her with the utmost respect, even refusing to have sex with her until she is his wife. Now, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t go out of his way to ensure that SHE knows and feels pleasure, which is so damn sexy to me. But baby when they DO get married? Chile!!! Let’s just say Capp stay standin on business!!!
The last two books took me on a goddamn rollercoaster and I’m still dizzy. Alaia’s past, Kendra’s past and present, Chubs/Capella’s girlfriend and baby momma Aimee’s past had everybody’s loyalty being tested left and right. And of course there is always a shoot out and a beat down that is beyond deserved.
But why those people thought they could kidnap Alaia and Capp wouldn’t tear the whole country down about her? And when Capri FINALLY stopped being babied and they let her loose? She did her thang and was definitely hanging with the big dawgs when it was time to go to war.
I loved the way season 2 ended. I love how this family remains beautifully blended and have each other’s back. Capps relationship with his adult son and baby girl is beautiful. Both the anniversary and wedding scenes had me in my feelings.
On to Season 3 with Capri!
TW: rape, sexual assault, violence, abuse, kidnapping
Rating: The Delgatos ain’t to be played with and they’re probably my favorite
