Intentional

I started this post before the holidays and clearly got sidetracked but here we go.

My main goal in 2022 is to be intentional about EVERYTHING. And my top priority is my health, wellness and self care.

I keep starting and stopping on my wellness journey because I’m not consistent. I have to work out no matter what. For mental clarity if nothing else. Every single day I have to do something my body needs even if it’s only for 10 minutes.

No matter where I am on this planet, cruise, vacation, work, home etc I have to honor my body with a minimum of 10 minutes of intentional movement.

I decided to finally upgrade my free Body Project account to the quarterly paid membership. I gave myself 3 months to decide if I want to commit to the lifetime membership. Y’all why they cancel the lifetime membership shortly after I made that pact with myself a month ago?! Lol I think it discouraged me as well since I did maybe 4 workouts and stopped.

About 2 months ago or so I found the MWF Podcast. It has been amazing for my productivity and overall focus. Rob covers such a wide range of motivational topics that he is typically what I listen to every single morning now. I listened to one random episode and it was so good that I wanted to start from the beginning. That took me way back to 2015 but I am committed to catching up to present day.

He often discusses habits and making positive changes to be your best self in all areas of life. At some point the book Atomic Habits was mentioned and I downloaded the audible version to listen to during my work day. I literally started reading it 4 days ago and immediately set my sights on my fitness.

So I printed out a 30 day goal sheet and wrote at the top ” walk/workout 10 mins a day” and hung it by my desk at work. I also found this yearly coloring goal sheet that I’ll be using in 2022.

That day I walked the long way to my car when I went to lunch and back to get some movement in. I realized it was 10 minutes total so I checked off the day.  The same evening I went home, turned on the TV and looked for 10 minute Body Project workouts to save to my profile. Lemme tell y’all I am SO out of shape right now that it hurts. I did one and those 10 minutes were painful and I was so out of breath.

But I’ve showed up for myself each day since. I’ve come to realize in listening to Atomic Habits my method was wrong. I keep trying to do what I always did the same way I always did it because “it worked in the past”. So I frustrated tf out of myself when I dreaded 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill or 30 minute workouts. My body has changed. Not only  am I heavier than I was when I was running  and working out hard, I have so much more going on in my life.

So I’m dialing it way back. 10-30 minutes of intentional movement is the goal for every single day of this coming year. I’ve also committed to a salad a day every day and a quick simple breakfast (oats, smoothie, fruit, yogurt bowl) Monday through Friday each week.

So there you have it. I won’t be counting calories, trying to hit a specific calorie burn or miles total or tracking steps. No resolutions, no drawn out promises that stress me tf out just creating a habit of intentional movement every day and eating two nutritious meals.

Feel free to join me. Here’s a goal sheet to get you started with being intentional about ONE habit/goal in 2022. Happy new year!

Color in each day you complete your goal! Make sure you hang it where you will see it.
