My Heartfelt Conflict Sinful Serenity by Mary C. Kim | My jaw is still on the floor!

So it usually takes me a few days to write book reviews, sometimes because I need to let my thoughts settle, other times I just get sidetracked. I have books I’ve already read STILL waiting to be reviewed because I keep getting sucked into new ones like this damn book right here!

Ok so the Black Girls Who Read girlies have been posting this one for over a week. The first time I went to Amazon and read the synopsis I was like eh. Around the second or third time I borrowed it like ok let me see what they’re talking about. Chile I started reading the first page and was like immediately no.

I think I was triggered. It felt like it was gonna be some sci-fi fantasy type stuff because of the conflict and slaughter between the two families. I’m not into all that so I was like nope!

But it just kept coming up. People talking about the spice and the plot twist no one saw coming. So last night I downloaded it again.
Baby, I refused to put it down until I finished just now. I promise you I dreamed about these damn characters last night. 😂

So Serenity and Konflict belong to two of the six most powerful families in their country. These two families have been feuding for years but things really hit the fan when Serenity’s dad murdered Konflict’s mother, which led to a war that wiped out both sides of their families except the two of them.

Wild AF right? Konflict wanted her head. He had tried to kill her but they refused to allow him.
The solution of the remaining Big Six Council members was that Konflict had no choice but to marry her or forfeit his seat. He loathed her, or so he said, and she was afraid of him. The wedding was dry. He refused vows. He refused anything, basically telling her he knew their laws and would never consummate their marriage so within one year it would dissolve, at which point he would murder her.

He moved her into his estate and basically treated her like crap for 11 months. Neglected her, refused to touch her, had another place elsewhere just to avoid her, paraded another woman in her face. Sadly she had known him since she was a child and had always loved him so it broke her.

But baby, instead of continuing to wallow, she told him since he wouldn’t have sex with her she was going to have all types of filthy sex with as many men as she could before her death so she could die having been fulfilled.

Needless to say that messed his head all the way up because he loved her too but was raised to hate her entire bloodline and tried to keep her at arm’s length to avoid falling for her. Once he found out she was calling a local escort service to pay to have a different man have sex with her every night, he went to her and proposed that she disguise him so HE could be the man she was with. The woman thought he was insane but went with it because he assured her he would kill ANYONE that touched his wife lol.

She talked a good game about what she wanted and how she wanted it so he masked up and did all the things until he tried to enter her and realized she was still a virgin. Now girl?! Which pissed him off even more because why tf would you put yourself in that situation? What if it really WAS some messed up person who didn’t care?

Although she wanted someone different each night, after that first night she felt a strong connection to him. When he came back again she initially refused but his possessiveness over her made her feel wanted.

Baby the spice in this damn book right here?! TOP TIER. I’m talking about they are so filthy with it whewwww chile.

This continued for quite some time to the point where she was sharing her secrets and info about her marriage and her now hate for her husband. Hearing how she felt made him want to fight for his marriage so he tried and failed to get her to soften to him outside of his false identity. She wasn’t having it.

Eventually all types of stuff went down. Betrayal. Kidnapping twice, once by bad guys, once by her husband. Her hating him even more when she discovered his lies. Murder. You name it, it happened.

Now that plot twist? I never saw that coming until it was dead smack in my face lol. Everything that came with it threw me for a loop. Like goddamn. Even the small plot twist at the end was unexpected but that one I welcomed.

I LOVED Serenity and Konflict though. These two had so much passion for one another but the fact that he refused to let her see the softer side of him without pretending to be someone else pissed me off. Boy you wasted all that damn time when you could’ve manned up from jump.

I’m glad things worked out exactly as they should in the end. This was a very good read even beyond the spice.
