Ok so let’s get into these Boudreaux Boys. Book 1, Dreaux: The Ruthless One, is the introduction to the Boudreaux Mafia series. Here we meet Rosier “Zoo” Boudreaux who has been groomed since childhood to take over his family’s empire, Boudreaux Enterprises. His little brother Jules aka Boko and cousin Andre are his right and left hand. After his father’s sudden death, Zoo takes over sooner than expected only to find out that the business, steeped in the dark world of organized crime, harbors dark secrets, unethical practices and dirty money he wasn’t prepared for.
As he works to clean up the mess his father left behind and solidify his power, he finds himself in the middle of an internal war among the families attached to the empire, including his own uncle and the father of his soon to be wife. Things get messy when he learns his uncle and others associated with the enterprise are trafficking and abusing young women and girls. He also learns exactly why his father met an untimely demise.
Gabby’s life has been hell since her parents died. She’s been living with abusive relatives who treat her like trash. Her world is turned upside down when she learns the parties her “uncle” takes the girls who live with them to aren’t just parties but where they are handed over to their captors. She almost falls victim, like her best friend Bridgette, until Zoo steps in and takes her for himself. Zoo is known to be unhinged, cold and uncompromising so she expects the worse. On the contrary, he is extremely patient and protective of Gabby and has his team work to find everyone responsible for what happened to her. While now living a soft life under his roof, Gabby and Zoo fall for one another. His baby boy is also enamored with her. His baby mama/fiancé isn’t havin and raises hell. In the end, everyone, even those you least expect get exactly what they deserve and you also learn why his nickname is Zoo.
Book 2, Dreaux: The Silent Killer, follows Jules “Boko” Boudreaux’ and the events immediately following his rescue of Gabby’s (now his sister-in-law) best friend Bridgette (Bunny) from her captors. Jules is so unserious lol he’s a corporate/criminal lawyer but he’s also a ruthless, methodical killer who is heavily into voodoo. I kid you not, I prayed real hard after listening to any of those chants he did in this book. Boko had me SHOOK lol
Bridgette was sold at the same party where Gabby encountered Zoo. Not only was she brutally raped while she was there, from the time they took her until Jules came to her rescue, she was gang raped, beaten and tortured. Even though he doesn’t know Bridgette’s whole story, based on what he saw, he vows to protect her and kill everyone who hurt her. In the process, he discovers an even darker layers to this trafficking ring. Bridgette has a hard time adjusting and navigating to life outside of what she knows but with the help of Gabby, Jules and the family, she eventually finds her way while she and Jules find love in the process.
Book 3, Dreaux: The Corporate Assassin, follows Andre “Dre” Boudreaux, the cousin to Rosier & Jules that is raised as tho he is a brother to them. Not only does he learn that his father is trash and has to take him out to uphold the family name, his relationship with his mother is fractured and she is hell bent on destroying the family. From that point forward Dre will stop at nothing to protect the family name, no exceptions.
Dre is second in command and the “fixer” of the family. He manages the construction side of Boudreaux enterprises, inking multimillion dollar deals and ensuring every i is dotted and t is crossed on contracts. He’s working on the Milly Groves Casino deal when they uncover additional instances of trafficking involving government officials and now they have to take out the head.
Dre is very controlling in all aspects of life and meets his match when he runs into Denim. Denim is a sharp tongued, fearless woman who uses her looks to get what she wants. She’s a single mother whose baby daddy happens to be a married, high profile government official. We initially meet her as a mystery woman in a bar tryin to have some fun. Dre ends up on her radar, not knowing she and her baby daddy were already on his.
Listen, when I found out Denim was the OPS I was floored lol I just knew Dre was gon kill her ass. The chemistry between these two, even after he discovers who she is, is WILD. He was so conflicted between treating her like he treats every other woman he sleeps with, killing her and falling for her. But that restaurant scene where he got her off…. Chile! Just know Winson James is narrating so if you know, you know. Then when he finally got it on and he beat it up so good she ended up unconscious of three hours? Whewwwwww chile Big Dre not the lil one!!!
Dre now has to choose between his duty to protect his Boudreaux family and his growing feelings for Denim and her baby girl Briley, who further complicates every damn thing. Let me say that both Jerome and Jules both provided entirely too much comedic relief. But the damn auction, knowing now what I didn’t know then? These some sick mofos and I’m glad they got what they deserved. All those damn people trash. I’m being nice and tryin my best to not give any true spoilers.
The plot twist in this one is INSANE, but I must say, I love how this one ends.
TW: human trafficking, abuse, violence, sexual assault
Rating: Big Dre not the lil one! If you know, you know.
